about the ash flash
This is not a newsletter about marketing tactics.
It is not a newsletter about productivity hacks, morning routines, or whatever new thing everyone is yelling about this week.
The Ash Flash is a conversation about building something real — and doing it on your own terms.
Here is who this is for.
You are talented. Probably more talented than most people around you, and the ones who know you best have told you so more than once. You have spent years — maybe decades — doing excellent work. Building things. Selling things. Solving problems other people could not figure out.
And yet.
Something does not add up. The ceiling keeps not moving. The income does not reflect what you are actually worth. The people closest to you watch you with a quiet bafflement — not doubting your ability, just confused by the distance between what you clearly are and what you have been willing to claim for yourself.
If that landed, you are in the right place.
The Ash Flash is written by John Ashworth.
I have nearly thirty years of sales experience across industries most people never get to see from the inside — luxury automotive, fitness, B2B technology, and a decade in death care helping independent funeral home owners build businesses that actually work. I have two hundred television segments behind me, a published book, published research, and more pattern recognition across more rooms than I can count.
For most of those thirty years I was building for someone else.
Not because I had to. Because it was easier than doing the harder thing — which is building something entirely and unapologetically your own.
That is what I am doing now. And The Ash Flash is where I think out loud about how.
What you will find here.
Writing that respects your intelligence. Ideas that transfer across industries and situations. Honest thinking about sales, knowledge, creativity, and what it actually takes to build a life that fits who you are — not who the market thinks you should be.
A knowledge business. A sales career worth having. A raise or a promotion you have been too valuable to ask for. A small business that finally scales. An income you can rely on. A perfect average day that belongs to you.
That is the conversation.
